It appears to me that this book was written in order to remove all of the rigorous mathematical details of the Richtmyer and Morton book on Finite Difference Methods. I would not use this as a text for any course in numerical PDE. As strange as this may sound, books on CFD tend to do a better job at numerical analysis but a poor job at CFD!

I am looking for books that will help me delve into PDEs and their numerical methods. I have been using black box N-S solvers for close to 4 years now. The goal here is to build a foundation for getting into CFD research which is not just limited to N-S equations. My background is in mech/aero engineering and not pure mathematics.

For the most part, if one knows the fundamentals of numerical methods, it's just writing down the steps to come to the same conclusion. What bothered me most was HW.5.6.8 (and 5.6.9).
