Use the address, like <your-domain-com>.mail.protection.outlook.com, as the SMTP Server address. In the From field, you can enter any email address you like, as long it’s within your domain.

22.10.2019 · This is not true! You confuse authenticated SMTP vs non-authenticated SMTP. We could very well use authenticated SMTP without TLS. There are certain scenarios where TLS is mandatory, and if TLS1.0 is turned off in Exchange Online, mail flow will be affected. For example, over 10% of connections from customer on-premises email servers and devices still use TLS1.0.
I just wanted add there is an even easier method to getting non-TLS devices talking to Office 365. In my situation we had an invoice processing system which did not support TLS. The vendor's recommendation was to do what this article describes, which is to stand up a new SMTP relay server to act as an intermediary.

What appears to me to be happening is that some of those devices are sending email without using TLS 1.2.
