Or, you can install Proxmox and have OMV virtualized along with other bunch of virtual machines and linux containers that you want to play with. You probably won’t necessarily need OMV anymore, you can replace it with a linux vm, or still have OMV for administrative purposes, as it’s nice to work with. Your choice.

03.01.2022 · Creating the OMV Virtual Machine in Proxmox According to this document, the minimum amount of RAM needed for OMV is just 1GB, and the minimum disk size is 4GB. As this is just a limited test, I’ll create a new VM with these values. I won’t provide step-by-step instructions for creating the VM as I’ve covered that in other posts.

21.11.2016 · With OMV 2.x and Proxmox 3.x, they work on the same server but you have to be careful of changing configurations that both can change. With OMV 3.x and proxmox 4.x, I think there is only two packages that conflict. The proxmox 4.4.6 kernel works fine with OMV.

I'm preparing to migrate my OMV environment which is currently running by itself on a physical machine to a Proxmox VM. My current setup is using an SSD for the OMV installation and 4 hdds. I have 3 of those in a pool using the Union Filesystems plugin and I'm also using the SnapRAID plugin with the 4th hdd as a parity drive.
