OMV is server OS for your NAS, which can run NextCloud on top of. I use both; OVM as OS and run Nextcloud in Docker on same server. You can reach your NextCloud files directly using OMV + NFS, but this is not really good as it does not work well as NextCloud has no idea what happens with those files you upload.

The simplest is just to use snap, that's what I run on my OWM NAS, super simple and super simple to update. sudo apt install snapd. sudo snap install nextclould. Then just set the port to 81 (or anything else) to not conflict with omv. sudo snap set nextcloud ports.http=81. and you're done :)

Mar 09, 2020 · Because NextCloud will need to run on port 80, we need to change the port that OpenMediaVault runs on. I’ve changed my OMV setup to port 81. You’ll also want to setup a static IP for your server. You can do this in the Network Interface settings in your OMV admin panel. Once you’ve got that setup, you’ll need to do some port forwarding.

3. level 1. Hypoficial. · 2y. NextCloud is not designed to be used for NFS. It is very slow compared to NAS software such as OMV and FreeNAS. Biggest difference between FreeNAS and OMV is linux vs FreeBSD. I use FreeNAS as the ZFS implementation is a bit more mature through FreeNAS, and I don't run other services off of my NAS setup.
