Sep 28, 2015 · Really, after the install the Arch is just about regularly updating the system and occasionally fixing a broken package in the least convenient moment. Some people feel oh so 1337 doing this, so they use Arch... I think you should go with openSUSE because you are a fan of openSUSE. It looks pretty cool too imho, but ymmv, so better check it yourself.

I believe openSUSE like Arch does leave some things untouched and up to the user to handle. If you'd like some nice touches taken care for you as a desktop user, like Ubuntu and Manjaro aim for, I hear Gecko Linux is a popular spin that takes care of that(I think it's just a setup with some extra config changes, but otherwise still openSUSE, not it's own distro/repos).

22.07.2021 · Re: TW vs Manjaro vs Archlinux. Manjaro (with KDE) was my main system for about 4 1/2 years and I found it generally reliable. But it seemed to be getting less so and requiring more manual interventions with each update. I can't say how reliable it is now as I switched to openSUSE TW last September.

I had more frequent and more serious breakages with updates on Arch, and you'd have to pay attention on forums about potential issues before doing an update, so I'd say automated testing by openQA is making a difference. openSUSE Installer supports UEFI+secure boot, whereas in Arch I always had to disable SecureBoot.

01.10.2015 · I used Opensuse for a while after needing it for a SLES course I did years ago - I just object to having to register with SUSE (Novell at the time) to use the forums. fsck that. Day to day I use Fedora for the toolset they maintain. The devs piss me off frequently, but seem to be coming around. For your question of Arch vs OpenSuse, I vote Arch.
