Wireless access point - DD-WRT Wiki
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_access_point
Introduction. For a large network where the DD-WRT router does not provide suitable network core, Wireless Access Point (WAP or just 'AP') allows wireless clients to be a part of the larger network. In this case, clients normally get DHCP configuration from the gateway or some other DHCP server, and could be accessed by other clients on the network (if allowed).

16.11.2019 · 802.11r, also known as Fast Roaming/Transition on OpenWRT allows clients to seamlessly switch between several access points depending on which one is closer to the client. I'd wish 2 firewall boxes in High Availability "master/slave" (one is working while the other is idle), in between a modem and an Access Point. Since the modem can provide multi GbE throughput (= both up and down), but every single ethernet port on the network is 1 GbE, I'd like to dedup each wiring twice, as if I was populating some ~2GbE cables.
