That there is currently no support for band steering in dd-wrt. They do mention that you can somewhat mimic band steering by reducing the beacon interval on your 2.4 Ghz network. They mention 5Ghz 100ms and 2.4Ghz 200ms, but I might even reduce it to 300ms to ensure that a beacon frame will received on the 5Ghz channel before on the 2.4Ghz channel.

The result is a client with both a and g radios connect on the 5ghz band and client that are just 2.4ghz connect on that band.
