Openwrt with a desktop. I'm interested in using a Raspberry PI4 (8g) as a travel computer/router. I'm imagining 3 options. Add a desktop to OpenWrt. Add wrt to an existing Linux desktop (don't even know if that's possible). Use docker to create separate vm's. I'm new to all this, so want to start my research on the right path.

They also only include the kernel and rootfs partitions and the factory image might include something else that is needed to set up an environment for OpenWrt. That said I too have flashed sysupgrade images to my tp-link devices without cutting away the unwanted things and they still work. No clue about how the raspberry pi reacts.
