1 dag siden · Recently I installed OpenWrt on my Archer C50 v4 using tftp. The installation was relatively smooth and the router is working. Before switching to OpenWrt, my Pi was resolving queries without any issues and everything worked as intended. I have configured the router to use Pi-hole by setting Network > Interfaces > LAN > DHCP Server > Advanced Settings > DHCP …
OpenWRT is pretty powerful but it can be a bit confusing to set up. I have been playing with setting sand have come up with the following things. I hope this is helpful to anyone else running OpenWRT. First, the setup: Two Pi-Hole devices. They are assigned the IPv4 address' 192.168.1.10 and 192.168.1.11.
Jul 16, 2020 · Pi-hole is a self-proclaimed "black hole" for internet advertisements. A simple bash one-liner allows you to set up a network-wide ad blocking appliance, on hardware as basic as a Raspberry Pi. A typical configuration would take no more than ten minutes to set up, assuming some prior experience with Linux.
Asuswrt-Merlin is just the original Asus firmware modified. As from their own site: Asuswrt-Merlin is a third party alternative firmware for Asus routers, with a special emphasis on tweaks and fixes rather than radical changes or collecting as many features as possible. And Diversion is just the old tomato ad blocking scripts with a fresh coat ...

I was going to setup openWRT on my new RT-AC68U, but a very smart security buddy of mine said Asuswrt-Merlin is lighter and to run Diversion instead of pihole. All I know for certain is that my home network is laggy and likely insecure (she really hates herself).

Nov 27, 2021 · Openwrt: Adguard Home, Adblock, Simple Adblock pfSense: pfBlockerNG -- very good and powerful. Overall, I have tried Pi-hole, Adguard Home, OpenWrt Adblock and pfSense pfBlockerNG. I think the best is pfBlockerNG and then Pi-hole, in terms of easy to setup and features. But I think there are quite some people who will prefer Adguard Home.

I recommend PiHole as I can easily see a lot of the data on my network. You mentioned redundancy. If you want 2 pi holes, you should be able to set up a second as the secondary DNS server.
Adblock on openwrt vs pihole. Hi, I recently flashed 21.02 on my netgear r7800. I am also running Pihole that for some reason only has been working on wifi and not ethernet (not a big problem atm). Now I figured out that there is a pretty good adblock solution available for openwrt.
Mar 20, 2021 · If all you need is a good router for a few hundred megabits of broadband, then OpenWRT on a consumer router is fine, especially if you are using PiHole to deal with the DNS side. If you want Gigabit then you'll be spending a lot more for a x86 box capable of routing that fast, especially if you ever plan to use VPNs.
