Many may not realize the need for NAT with IPv6, since it has so many ips, and that is true, you would not need NAT to accommodate a limited number of public ips with IPv6. There are however, situations where Outbound NAT is required for IPv6.

But this would require an NDP proxy which as far as I know OPNsense does not currently have. So if the modem doesn't support PPP, IPv6 NAT would be the only option. Quite awful, but should work.
