Cannot afford to be more/less (un)specific, but I assume that the need to sustain Optware-ng || Entware-ng (and vice versa) separately is soothing now.

Entware is still supported. Optware is not. Nothing more needs to be said. You can run both, but typically Entware has more up to date binaries.

If you want to natively compile something, then optware-ng is better, because entware-ng does not even have gcc package.

Entware is made by a Community member, and he chose to distribute his QPKG via this Forum. QNAP has expressed interest in the project, so it may well become an "official" QPKG later that is distributed by the App Center.
