Jul 19, 2011 · The snapshot cannot be created if the "Enable VMware tools quiescence" option is enabled in the job's properties. The same operation fails when trying to take a Snapshot via vSphere client with the option "Snapshot the virtual machine's memory" unchecked and the "Quiesce guest file system (Needs VMware Tools installed)" option enabled.

If a snapshot named VEEAM BACKUP TEMPORARY SNAPSHOT is found on a VM, confirm that no active jobs are running in Veeam Backup & Replication.

Solution: If you are sure they are leftovers from failed jobs (and this isn't your replica server) simply click the delete all and let VMware clean them up.

02.10.2012 · I use Veeam Backup, and it appears that it isn't removing the snapshots it creates properly. Anyway, the simple question I have is: can I remove the snapshots that say "Please do not delete this snapshot. It is being used by Veeam Backup.", when the backup job is not running but in fact is idle?

13.05.2013 · I have several servers running VMWare, and using VEEAM for backup. I have on VM that I need to edit the disk on. When I clicked edit everything is grayed out. From what I can tell, you cannot edit a disk on a server that has snapshots. When I looked in vSphere I see 4 snapshots called "VEEAM BACKUP TEMPORARY SNAPSHOT" which say do not delete.

Then, remove the snapshot using the Delete or Delete All buttons in the Snapshot Manager. Note: A VMware Snapshot is a delta file containing all changes to a VM since the creation of that snapshot.
