Apr 22, 2020 · Updated: still using GrandWazoo’s FreeNAS ZFS over iSCSI plugin on TrueNAS 12.0-U4.1 and Proxmox 6.4-13. I’m pretty sure I read in the issues section on Github that it works with Proxmox 7, maybe someday soon I’ll give it a try. They have updated it so you won’t need to run the patch commands again after a kernel upgrade.

Well, "somebody from proxmox" is an idiot, then. TrueNAS doesn't give a crap what you're running over iSCSI. It's a block SAN protocol.

19.11.2021 · - it seems to be automated creation on truenas of a zvol & iscsi share from the proxmox side - that is afterwards used as image to allow proxmox to create and control zvols&iscsi shares on truenas might be convenient but I would not allow this from a security perspective in production - unless i misunderstood the security implication

TrueNAS and Proxmox management are on the 192.168.1.x network. Ubuntu/Plex VM is on 192.168.99.x ... iSCSI instead of network share maybe?

Our current Proxmox cluster is connected to a single TrueNas Core ... as a ZFS drive in Proxmox - an ZFS/iSCSI/ZFS sandwich so to say :)

Just spun up a new lab to test the new release but TrueNAS Scale is now using SCST for ISCSI and we don't have SCST option in Proxmox.

Edit Zvol in TrueNAS (Editors note: Using TrueNas 12.0-U4 when this is written) You need to login to your TrueNAS instance and go to Storage -> Pools and click on the three dots to the right of the Zvol and choose edit Zvol. In the new window appearing you need to choose a larger number of the size and press Save.

Nov 16, 2021 · Well, "somebody from proxmox" is an idiot, then. TrueNAS doesn't give a crap what you're running over iSCSI. It's a block SAN protocol. As long as you can get the client to attach the iSCSI disks, you can put whatever you want on them, and it can certainly be ZFS if you want.
