Since recently there was a new addition (libpve-proxmox-perl in version 6.2-6) for pruning backup in a much more convenient and fast manner. You can use the pvesm prune-backups <store-id> pvesm prune-backups <storeid> --prune-backups keep-last=3,keep-weekly=3,keep-montly=12,keep-yearly=1 --dry-run AFAIK, GUI integration is in the works.
