Is there a reason why VS does not support Q35?

Anyway, during the troubleshooting I found that if I change machine type from q35 to i440fx I was able to pass GPU trough. However this VM often crashes up to the level that it crashes the host as well. If removed GPU it is stable. My question, am I doing correctly just simply changing VM machine type from q35 to i440fx via the proxmox WEBGUI?
