29.01.2014 · This should work even if you put the virtual drive on a shared storage such as NFS or iSCSI. #2 Attach a NFS share to all VMs In this option just create a NFS share in shared storage or in Proxmox node and attach the share to all your VMs. But do not add the NFS share in Proxmox Cluster > Storage as it will be pointless. The issue is if you make the drive available to a local vm, it will want to (if windows or mac) format it for use. Also it will want to lock it for it's own use making sharing nearly impossible. Easiest way is using a linux file system (ahem..ZFS!) and share it out via nfsd or smbd (samba).

Mar 08, 2020 · Connect vm host to same subnet/switch where your computers are located and use bridged connections to your vms with same subnet also. Then all computers and vms will be able to connect to your file share vm. I assume your shared folder vm will be linux with samba server. This is the simplest solution and I think the best one for your needs.

Wondering if anyone can share your experience using Proxmox 4.2 and the included DRBD9 to use shared local storage (SSD) in a cluster of 3 servers with high availability. The Proxmox website makes this sound fairly easy, but Hyper-V seems to have a lot more industry support and tutorials for Hyper-V tasks abound on the internet much more so than for Proxmox.
