Aug 24, 2021 · I have a bit of a problem implementing a soft cross entropy loss in pytorch. I need to implement a weighted soft cross entropy loss for my model, meaning the target value is a vector of probabilities as well, not hot one vector. I tried using the kldivloss as suggested in a few forums, but it does not expect a weight vector so I can not use it.

07.04.2018 · As you noted the multi class Cross Entropy Loss provided by pytorch does not support soft labels. You can however substitute the Cross Entropy Loss by taking the Kullback-Leibler Divergence (they are similar up to a constant offset which does not affect optimization). The KLDivLoss() of pytorch supports soft targets.
