Simply put it in your computer and navigate to resin-boot partition, scroll down to last line and insert above code and save on exit. Safely remove SD Card from computer, put it back in your Raspberry Pi 3b and attach power cable. Let it boot. It should boot as normal. Now your Raspberry Pi 3 is capable to boot from USB.

Now boots from SSD without SD card inserted and working stable for 2 days. There was a 2 problems - this small portable ssd is power hungry- 0.9A, and slow to start.
USB host and Ethernet boot can be performed by BCM2837-based Raspberry Pis - that is, Pi 2B version 1.2, Pi 3B, and Pi 3B+ (Raspberry Pi 3A+ cannot net boot since it does not have a built-in Ethernet interface).

29.07.2018 · If this is not the issue, that it could be that your SSD needs more time to boot. While this is unlikely, because SSD are fast, that could be it.
