My new computer runs Windows 7.I wanted to import my mail messages from the old hard drive (connected with a hard drive enclosure), but did not know the default file path for messages stored physically on the hard drive.

Install WLM on the new drive and launch it (at least once) then overwrite that folder with the folder from the crashed drive.

The link that you sent me presumes that I can export the contacts from my old working machine, but I only have the hard drives from the old machine
Jan 11, 2012 · Unfortunately I don't have an export of all the various messages, contacts, etc. from Live Mail. If I add the original C: drive as a second drive in the new PC, is there a way I can point Live Mail to the old drive, at least long enough to do an export? I suspect the new PC is too new to simply boot off the old drive, but have not tried that yet.

Before I spent more time on it they got a new computer and now want their mail and contacts moved to the new computer. A quick google told me that Windows Live Mail typically stores its data in C:\users\*username*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail.

Using LiveContactsView, open the contacts.edb file from the DBStore folder. Select all fields within the list view. Export the items to a .csv file. Import the .csv file into the mail client of your choice. That’s it! It’s actually remarkably simple, and it is the best (and only) method I’ve found to accomplish this to date.
