Sep 19, 2020 · kevinmhsieh and the others I think have spoke and sound like leaned toward the best option being to take multiple backups of the VM's using Hyper-V compatible backup software, delete the VM's through Hyper-V manager, clean up any orphaned files then put the VM's back using Hyper-V manager. If I'm understanding the backup process correctly it only backs up the current operating state which would eliminate all of the old snapshots reducing the size of the VM.
