Difference between LSTM cell state and hidden state
https://datascience.stackexchange.com/questions/82808/difference...
10.10.2020 · To summarise: RNNs are great, but issues occur with log terms dependencies because of the chain rule in their hidden state. LSTM and the cell state. To alleviate the issues above, LSTM architectures introduce the cell state, additional to the existing hidden state of RNNs. Cell states give the model longer memory of past events.

this hidden state its own internal dynamics, we get a much more interesting kind of model. – It can store information in its hidden state for a long time. – If the dynamics is noisy and the way it generates outputs from its hidden state is noisy, we can never know its exact hidden state. – The best we can do is to infer a probability ...

17.01.2021 · I'm working on a project, where we use an encoder-decoder architecture. We decided to use an LSTM for both the encoder and decoder due to its hidden states. In my specific case, the hidden state of the encoder is passed to the decoder, and this would allow the model to learn better latent representations.

1. A new type of RNN cell (Gated Feedback Recurrent Neural Networks) 1. Very similar to LSTM 2. It merges the cell state and hidden state. 3. It combines the forget and input gates into a single "update gate". 4. Computationally more efficient. 1. less parameters, less complex structure. 2. Gaining popularity nowadays [15,16]

Hidden states are technically speaking inputs to whatever we do at a given step, and they can only be computed by looking at data at previous time steps. Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are neural networks with hidden states. Before introducing the RNN model, we first revisit the MLP model introduced in Section 4.1.

Mar 03, 2019 · There are two common RNN strategies. You have a long sequence that's always contiguous (for example, a language model that's trained on the text of War and Peace); because the novel's words all have a very specific order, you have to train it on consecutive sequences, so the hidden state at the last hidden state of the previous sequence is used as the initial hidden state of the next sequence.
