Roku apps are usually updated more and more often than most smart TV apps, and they are also likely to be supported much longer. However this tv is for a bedroom and I'm not looking to go for a larger one. Apple TV has better performance ( the chip/ram is leagues ahead in an apple tv vs the hardware in your tv. You'll get smoother navigating,faster app loading, streaming at higher bit rates (better quality picture),etc. No ads- smart tv's often have adds in the interface, apple tv doesn't.
It’s not even a streaming stick, it’s the shitty built-in software. Get a Roku Ultra/Apple TV 4K or Nvidia shield. This is overkill for most people though and the OP doesn't seem to want the very best. The average person isn't going to pay the $169 for the Apple TV 4K or $199 for the Shield.
