Dec 15, 2021 · With our summit elevation above 11,000 feet, and being the southernmost ski resort in the United States, Ski Apache is geographically positioned for the best warm-weather skiing weather in North America. We’re also conveniently located from major cities in both Texas and New Mexico, only 3 hours from Albuquerque and 2.5 hours from El Paso.

Ski Apache opened under the name "Sierra Blanca Ski Resort" during Christmas of 1961. Amazingly, twenty-six hundred people an hour were fast carried up the ski run crest via three T-bar lifts. In 1962, the very first mono-cable four-passenger gondola in North America was built to accommodate a greater number of skiers.
