Hi, when I turn on in SNES9x (Current) from official repo the option Hi Res Blend and set it to MERGE, I get this log line:

SNES9x 1.52/2010 strikes a nice happy medium between accuracy and speed, with much of the SNES9x 2005 speed with the benefit of the improved sound emulation from 1.52. Secret of Mana 2/Seiken Densetsu 3 seemingly runs better in SNES9x 2005, with high-res text, no slow down, and no sound crackling/stuttering.

24.05.2020 · Snes9X doesn't have an immediate preview, so to see how it looks you need to click OK to close this window. Repeat the process to select a different filter. About Hi-Res: In the same box you'll see a “Hi Res” option.

16.04.2010 · All in-game dialog and menu text layers use the high-res mode, which makes for some scrunched-up kanji. It looks good though. I do believe this is only in the original; I'm pretty sure the fan translation either uses the regular mode, or perhaps made the text twice as wide so it looks like normal SNES text. But it's not only SD3.
