I recommend enabling SSH on your Synology, storing these in an ini file as root, setting appropriate permissions and note down the location. ssh -p <PORT> <YOUR SYNOLOGY USERNAME>@<YOUR SYNOLOGY IP> sudo -i touch cloudflare.ini.

"Home Assistant Core" runs natively, without docker; and has MUCH better performance. Haven't run into any integration problems either.

It’s a suprisingly capable little Linux server, and since it’s always running anyway for network backups, it’s a good candidate for a home automation server.

(I’ve tried both through GUI and CLI) – There are no errors in home-assistant.log. – I have uncommented “http” in configuration.yaml – I have run a port scan that says that confirms that 8123 is open. I definitely recommend it; it’s open-source and very easy to set up, and it supports many devices right away with minimal fuss.

Choose a container-name you want (e.g., “homeassistant”) Click on “Advanced Settings”. Set “Enable auto-restart” if you like. Within “Volume” click on “Add Folder” and choose either an existing folder or add a new folder. The “mount path” has to be “/config”, so that Home Assistant will use it for the configs and logs.

Go to File Station and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it homeassistant.
