23.09.2010 · Synology not freeing up space after deleting. Hey all, I already tried a couple of things and searched already a lot in the internet. Unfortunately, my problem still did not get resolved, as it is not freeing up space after deleting many GBs of files. I have a DS718+ with latest DSM software and 2x6 TB (SHR - redundancy) setup.

Launch Storage Manager. Go to Storage Pool > Configurations. Click Set Time Grid under the Space Reclamation Schedule section. Set your space reclamation schedule: Click Pause space reclamation. Then, use the time grid to specify when you do not want space reclamation to run. Click Run space reclamation.

It took a bit because I have 400GB of media, but after I move it Space Reclamation started. After 5 days it is still loading and 2.1TB of data is used (before it was around 1.7TB).
