08.12.2021 · The defaults in timeshift exclude /home and a number of other folders such as /mnt. So your data partition mounted in /mnt will not be backed up. While you can modify the settings in timeshift to include /home, I would strongly recommend that you don't do this. Instead use a complimentary utility such as backintime to take care of your data.

What I do with Timeshift is make a snapshot before I make any system/program/driver changes. Using it will restore all apps and programs just the way they were, I've done it a lot :/ The personal changes/customizations you've made in the programs are saved in the .config files in your home folder which Timeshift leaves alone.
