But this also is a scalar: t = torch.tensor ( [1]) imho because it has a size and no direction.
introduce torch.Scalar to represent scalars in autograd #1433
https://github.com › pytorch › issues
Currently, scalars are returned in autograd as 1-element Tensors of dim=1. This has various unintended side effects and issues.

Remember to extract the scalar value by x.item () if x is a torch scalar tensor. Add image ¶ An image is represented as 3-dimensional tensor. The simplest case is save one image at a time. In this case, the image should be passed as a 3-dimension tensor of size [3, H, W]. The three dimensions correspond to R, G, B channel of an image.

This video will show you how to fill a PyTorch tensor with a certain scalar by using the PyTorch fill operation. To get started, we import PyTorch. Then we print the PyTorch version we are using. We are using PyTorch 0.3.1.post2. Let's now initialize a PyTorch tensor with the shape of 2x4x6 using the torch.Tensor functionality, and we're going ...

A tensor can be constructed from a Python list or sequence using the torch.tensor () constructor: torch.tensor () always copies data. If you have a Tensor data and just want to change its requires_grad flag, use requires_grad_ () or detach () to avoid a copy.

24.08.2020 · This is a stupid question. I am trying to do a very simple thing. How do I convert a 0-dim torch::Tensor into a torch::Scalar. Basically, what I am trying to achieve is the following: auto center1 = torch::linspace(a[0], a[1], K+1); My problem is that a[0] is a 0-dim Tensor but linspace requires a torch::Scalar. When I tried to simply cast to a scalar, I get the following error: error: …
What is the best way to append scalar to tensor - PyTorch ...
https://discuss.pytorch.org/t/what-is-the-best-way-to-append-scalar-to-tensor/54445
27.08.2019 · Hi, I need to know what is the best way (i.e. most efficient) to append a scalar value (i.e. tensor with empty size) to a tensor with multidimensional shape. I tried torch.cat and torch.stack but this requires the dimensions to be matched. I could use unsqueeze to the scalar value but I wonder if there is a better solution. Thanks

25.05.2020 · IIRC, "Scalar"s are handled in specialized ops in c++, so they probably just end up as arguments to cuda kernel functions. And cuda automatically copies kernel arguments (pointers & scalars) to gpu. So maybe scalars are marginally faster than buffers, not sure.
