Yes, you have VRB files as a result, however it is not a simple file renaming, it is a synthetic activity that reads blocks from VIB files, writes them to VBK, reads old blocks from there and writes them to VRB.

The big difference between the reverse incremental and the "transform previous backup chains into rollbacks" is when it releases the snapshot of the VM.
