When I first installed pgadmin3, I was able to launch it using the command "pgadmin3 &", and PG Admin would launch correctly using my local X server. Something has happened though, and now PG Admin will no longer launch. It bounces back with the message "Error: Unable to initialize gtk, is DISPLAY set properly?"

The clue is in the error message: What is the DISPLAY environment variable set to? It is probably incorrect or has changed.

The kind of error you are getting is usually caused by the X environment missing its DISPLAY property. Did you do this through an SSH session?
