31.12.2019 · My only option I see now is running Pihole in a VM which will require more resources. Pihole docker works perfectly as long as any VMs are not using the br0 bridge. If I set them to virtb0, then Pihole will work with VMs running, but I lose the ability to remote connect to the VMs as they are on a different IP address range.

31.08.2017 · I got pihole up and running. Doesn't look like you can run VM's and pihole at the same time. As long as you're bonding to a bridge, and have a DHCP on your network, you can disable dnsmasq in libvirtd for VMs so it won't bind to port 53: virsh net-autostart --disable default virsh net-destroy default.
