Having said that, Ubuntu does provide a more easy-to-use desktop experience for beginners. It is more of a 'Just works' OS compared to Debian with add-ons that facilitate installing software not in the repos via ppas & proprietary video drivers. Mind you Debian is still pretty easy to install if you know what you are doing.
