Just as a side not for future readers, starting from Veeam Backup 4.0 there will be no difference between job started manually (interactively), or automatically (on schedule). In both cases, it will run under the Veam Backup service account security context.

Since the Hyper-V hosts are on another subnet, it didn't have correct opening to the QNAP storage. I had to open up in the firewall on ports tcp/udp 137-139 and tcp 445 to the QNAP storage, and it worked flawless.
