Bottlneck is "source", which is impossible: high performance 3PAR (4xFibreChannel).

The jobs are set to run in sequence, and the previous job ran past midnight causing this job to not run on the scheduled day for fulls.

Conceding this VIBs have size of full backup since the job worked rarely, you can run a backup copy job with the chain as a source to get a single .vbk file or you can restore VM (s) from the latest restore point and backup it again. The time required to perform the merge will be based on the size of the incremental data and the random I/O performance of the underlying storage.

A Broken Backup Chain is when you have 1 full Backup and several (can be 2 or more) incremental restore points (files) were deleted, or are corrupted.

I have one backup job with 43 VM in a vSphere Cluster (Windows and Linux Guest OS). Backup settings are daily with 30 restore points, backup mode is Incremental.

It also gives us discreet datasets for each backup so we can tell what data we are backing up. I have switched to a reverse incremental mode for all the backups ...
