This was caused by having the Application Aware Processing enabled for this particular VM and therefore not allowing a successful Quiesced snapshot.

16.10.2014 · Solution. This issue takes place, when RPC settings are not properly configured in registry. Log on to Guest VM, press Start > Run > regedit. Navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\RPC\INTERNET. Export this key to back it up first, then delete the whole Internet key (and it's sub-keys).
