Jun 03, 2017 · I personally think Veeam should be adding this as a disclaimer on their documentation, especially that in Update 3 Fast Clone is being disabled on certain builds of Server 2016. Also, like a previous poster stated, this needed far more rigorous testing imho. I'm going to wait for the MS patch mentioned earlier and see if that fixes issues.

Nov 14, 2016 · So I have noticed this issue mainly since upgrading to version 8+ my Backups are slow yet my replica jobs are fast. For example I have an SQL server that is in both jobs. The backup job will take 13 hours and runs once a day. The Replica Job runs every 30 minutes during business hours and will take 5-15 minute normally.

The most recent full backup was almost a week old (with 3 VIBs in between), but there are like 5 other VBK files on that volume that were all created using ReFS fast clone. In my mind, it makes sense that this could be the issue, because during the restore job, it has to read the fast cloned VBK, see that the blocks reside in another file, and ...

The OS is Server 2016 and was "not" up to date when the ReFS and Job was made - it is now, but the fastclone is still very slow (24 hours).
