Just updating the ID in one location will not suffice and can cause integrity issues with your vCenter Database, not to mention it is not supported by VMware.

But, my boss asked me if the upgrade from 6.7 to 7.0 will change the MoRef IDs, as that caused issues with Veeam last time, and we had to rebuild and reseed everything. I'd never even heard of a MoRef until he asked me about it. Last time, we also went from 5.5 to 6.5, then 6.5 to 6.7.
