As far as only seeing this for older backups, it sounds like you're using the "move" functionality for Capacity Tier which we introduced in 9.5.4.

This is great and I get that I can restore these jobs in Azure with the on-prem backup servers, meaning I at least have off site backup storage and some recovery options.

18.08.2020 · So the Azure VM profile does have significant impact on the upload&download speed to Azure Blob, the profile upgrade did not make Veeam Restore to Azure blob any faster. Even funnier, while conducting a restore to a storage account with Veeam, we parrallel conducted the test to the same storage account. Veeam got 11MB/s, and azcopy 3000Mb/s .

02.07.2011 · You can spin upna Linux machine, connect it to blob storage and then use the Linux machine as a repo. Or you can wait for the latest Veeam update that brings the cloud archive tier, allowing you to offload to Amazon And Azure blob space, which is the easiest and best option.

Solution: When I've done Azure storage for Veeam, I use a Copy Job to duplicate a backup job to an Azure-based repository.
