To perform file-level restore for Microsoft Windows VMs, the account must have the following permissions and privileges: Local Administrator permissions to start the Veeam Backup & Replication console. SeBackupPrivilege and SeRestorePrivilege to connect to the Veeam backup server and start the restore process.
Select the file and click restore. This will restore the file to its original location in the original VM. In my case the original file was still in place. You can see that Veeam has renamed the original file and then restored the text file. If we look at both ACL lists, we can see that B&R has succesfully restored the permissions.
06.09.2011 · But my colleagues said that they were using the functionnaly of restoring only NTFS permissions in Backup Exec which is pretty efficent when you destroy the NTFS permissions integrety. Our Veeam supplier confirmed that the functionnality is not integrated yet.
15.05.2018 · Many times the owner of a folder has mucked up subfolder permissions only by simply ticking the wrong box. When restoring in Commvault, you get the option for Restore ACLs Only, Restore Data Only, Restore Both Data and ACLs. We have to keep using Commvault for this reason and others as Veeams FLR is much slower and the restore options are limited.
