Worked flawlessly every day until this weekend, when the drives started showing in Veeam under 'Offline Tapes'. The drive that was running a job had a '6' in the indicator. 09.05.2016 · Both my data repositories and tape drive are on the same server. Data repository is direct attached storage and the tape drive is SCSI. I think Veeam 8 doubled the speed of the tape backup. Veeam 9 - gave the ability of the backup to tape to just pull the last full. Which is so very nice. Ok, I did some digging.

Most of the time, the fix is simple – restart the Veeam Tape Access Service on the backup server, then re-check the tape library state.
