You can work with both online and offline tapes: Tapes that are currently loaded to the tape device are available under the Online node.

Most of the time, the fix is simple – restart the Veeam Tape Access Service on the backup server, then re-check the tape library state.

09.05.2016 · Both my data repositories and tape drive are on the same server. Data repository is direct attached storage and the tape drive is SCSI. I think Veeam 8 doubled the speed of the tape backup. Veeam 9 - gave the ability of the backup to tape to just pull the last full. Which is so very nice. Ok, I did some digging.

It pops up the job progress window, but it just says: Tape library QUANTUM Scalar i40-i80 153G (offline) appears to be offline. There doesn't appear to be any other way of getting the library online.

Worked flawlessly every day until this weekend, when the drives started showing in Veeam under 'Offline Tapes'. The drive that was running a job had a '6' in the indicator. I uninstalled those drives and rebooted, no luck.
