20.05.2010 · Looking at the vmware.log file I can't see any errors, but there have been no new entries to the log since I powered down the VM (I powered it down at abouit 1710 and it is now 1235 the following day), I have attached the last portion of the vmware.log file and the details of the task when I try and power on the VM.

12.06.2014 · Apparently the output from vim-cmd vmsvc/getallvms is a little different now, so grepping for "vm name" didn't work. Just remove the pipe and grep and you can see the vmid (it's presented as a table with Vmid as the column heading). Anyway, powering on the VM did not work. I get "Power on failed." Not very nice that it doesn't state WHY it failed.
Aug 15, 2011 · This is ESXi 4.0. The VM was created on ESX 3.5. Some of the snapshots were probably taken on ESX 3.5. Then the VM was migrated to this ESXi 4.0 host.

VM state was suspended or snapshot with memory included, then moved to a new host with different CPU features.
