16.07.2020 · I had a system that I couldn't consolidate due to a locked file. We use Acronis and after verifying the Acronis Appliances did not have a lock on the system and after powering off and migrating, etc., etc. I removed it from inventory and re-registered the .vmx file and I was able to consolidate the disk.

15.06.2021 · Expand all the Hard Disk (s). Select the Hard Disk (s) which belong to the virtual machine that has the problem. Click on the X beside the Hard Disk to unmount the Hard Disk from the VM. 03.08.2021 · Remove the disk from this virtual machine or power down the virtual machine. Consolidation/Power On should now be possible. Find the Task / Service holding the lock by running this command: lsof | grep -i <vm-name>. If this returns an output, there is a service or task locking the disks.
