"UPDATE: The job did not have quiescence enabled. At time of the backup, there wasn't any mentionable load as it was the weekend".

Power of the vm and then Browse to Datastore and run # ls -la ( please check example below and remove any remaining .lck-6100xxxx0XXXXXXX files with # rm -i lck-6100xxxx0000xxxxx0. 2.Power on vm and then start consolidation again. You can even start consolidation in power of state. Thanks again.

06.05.2020 · In your vCenter, find the host with that mac address. SSH onto that host with root. Run a list open files with the name of your server. lsof | grep servername. At this stage, you may find, like me another server has mounted the VMDKs and that why a lock exists. This is common with backup software like Veeam.

03.06.2021 · A disk consolidation attempt after creating a snapshot from the local esxi web interface while the vm is powered on showed 0% progress for ~20 minutes and then "insufficient disk space" failure. Running df -h or du -h -s . periodically while that was in progress showed no decrease in free space with the number always remaining ~87GB.
