Snapshot removal extremely slow I started a snapshot removal a few hours ago on a roughly 600GB server. It had 2 snapshots one 6 months old and one about a month old. So far in the past 3 hours it's only reached 2% complete. I haven't tried to cancel anything yet and the VM was powered off before starting. I feel like this is extremely slow.

Take a snapshot in case it bombs, if it is successful then verify and delete snapshots ASAP. There's literally zero reason to have a snapshot sitting around for that long, and if you think that you need a snapshot for more than a day or two then you need to be making a clone of the VM instead.

23.04.2015 · I'm not a VMWare user, but I do know that snapshot (checkpoint) removal in Hyper-V can take a long time. My guess is that it is normal. Take a look at the amount of I/O hour host server is doing. My guess it that there is a lot of I/O going on.
