14.01.2022 · This is why Workstation complains about file: Kali-Linux-2021.2-vmware-amd64-cl1-000004.vmdk as it is a metadata file that points to all the disk slices. If you don't have that file anymore (and it sounds like you don't) then you can copy in an empty slice to fix the chain.

The system cannot find the file specified VMware ESX cannot find the virtual disk "vm.vmdk". Verify the path is valid and try again. If a VM fails to boot, the VMDK descriptor file can be removed by ESXi causing this issue.
