In late October 2019, I visited White Sands National Monument which is approximately 16 miles Southwest of Alamogordo, N.M. (BTW, Alamogordo has several space and missle museums and other venues of interest). White Sands NM has the world's largest white gypsum sand dunes (unlike beach sand which is silica-based).
