There are clear technical wins for XFCE moving to Gtk3 once the transition is complete such as hidpi, animations, opengl, more flexible theming, eventually wayland, etc. Obviously everybody from both the XFCE and Gtk camp want this to go well and the insulting tone of a few users here doesn't help that (not just directed at your comment specifically).
