Spotify has better playlists, user interface, and podcasts. Youtube is better for finding stuff that might not be on Spotify. Rare stuff is easy to find. Spotify is like a 9/10. Youtube is like a 6/10 but add a commercial free youtube and it jumps to 9/10 …
The offline mixtape features are much better on YouTube Music over Spotify (fact). Also, the UI is nicer (in my opinion). Lastly, it works better with Google Home (not sure if fact or just my experience on this one). 9. level 2.
Spotify is powered by Other Spotify Users based data since it powers and allows you to discover music by playing similar music which other users having similar tastes as you. Youtube Music is purely powered by the AI algorithm that powers Youtube. Of course, Spotify also relies heavily on AI just like Youtube but probably not as much.
After 2 years of struggling with YouTube music, we switched to Spotify and couldnt be happier. How can Google/Alphabet not have basic features like sorting artists albums etc. in a playlist Alphabetically. Here in Canada we were paying almost $18 a month for the YouTube music service. We switched to a Spotify Duo account for $15.
YouTube vs Spotify. music streaming. Recently my friends and I were just having casual conversation when the subject of music turned up. YouTube Music encodes at 256 kbps AAC highest quality. Spotify encodes at 320 kbps Ogg Vorbis highest quality. Both are high quality codecs, much better than MP3. Personally I can't hear any difference at over 128 kbps with these codecs.
But YouTube Music comes with ad free YouTube if you get YouTube Premium. And considering I watch YouTube every single day, YouTube Premium is worth it to me. YouTube Music being included is amazing. I also love that YouTube Music a "My Supermix" in case I want to listen to a little bit of everything and not just one specific category like Spotify.

Youtube's sound quality maxes out at 256kbps and spotify maxes out at 320kbps. Yet when i play youtube music in my car at at the same set volume, youtube music is much louder and has deeper and richer bass. I compared quite a few songs and came to the same conclusion. Theres a noticeable difference.
I feel YouTube Music has better dynamics. It does have more dynamics, because YouTube Music has no normalise audio feature. Spotify has it on and set to "Normal" volume level by default. If you turned off the normalisation feature, they'd be the exact same. Easily YouTube Music.
