We also know that Pacman will not delete old or uninstalled packages automatically from the cache. After a particular period of time, the cache folder will grow bigger in size.

It includes both x86_64 and i686 packages, up until November 2017 where support for i686 was dropped in Arch Linux. Maintaining the Arch Linux Archive consumes significant amount of resources, so old packages are cleaned up from time to time.

The Arch Linux Archive is a daily snapshot of the official repositories. It can be used to install a previous package version, or restore the system to an earlier date . Rebuild the package If the package is unavailable, find the correct PKGBUILD and rebuild it with makepkg .

The Historical Archive does not provide a way to access a "snapshot" of Arch packages at a given point in time. However, there is a redirection on archive.archlinux.org so that downloads for old packages are redirected to the Historical Archive on archive.org.

Jun 17, 2014 · I have recently installed Arch Linux and found that I am eating away at a lot of storage relatively quickly. For whatever reason I have already used 17GB in just about 2 weeks. I do not have a great deal of software installed so I am led to believe that all of the old packages are maintained somewhere.
