To get past this, I have been booting into grub and running sudo apt purge ~nvidia, then sudo apt autoremove. after I do this I can boot again and everything seems fine except of course, this is using the nouveau drivers. 11.04.2021 · I would always recommend booting with open source drivers that way your system will boot without any issues. If you have a laptop with dual (intergrated and dedicated) you can install nvidia prime drivers after you have booted. I am on Intel. Lenovo Thinkpad e14 gen2.

Go through the prompts to install everything and reboot. When the blue screen pops up to manage keys hit enter. Follow the prompts to add the key and enter the password.
21.04.2019 · I upgraded today from 18.04 to 19.04, and after the installation my system refused to boot (it was stuck on that black screen with the green [ok] lines). I then installed it without the third party extras, and it booted normally, but as soon as I installed the most recent nvidia drivers from the software & updates menu, it refused to boot again.

Also detach your external monitor during the NVIDIA graphics drivers ... are sur Ubuntu won't freeze at boot time while using these proprietary drivers.

22.05.2017 · I tried changing the display driver to NVIDIA proprietary driver which seemed to work, but still the monitor was unknown, resolution the same and couldnt be changed and also refresh rate was higher than should be. I tried to disable secure boot, then it started working.
